Description

Ceramic Spoon Mug with Handle Slot, 8.5cm Rim, Glossy Glaze

A mug with a vertical slot built into the handle, sized to hold the ceramic spoon that ships with it. The spoon stands upright instead of sliding into the drink, which keeps the handle dry and the bowl of the spoon out of the coffee. Rim 8.5 cm, height 10.5 cm, base 5.5 cm.

Ceramic Spoon Mug with Handle Slot — front view

The slot is the whole idea, and it is where cheaper versions fail. A slot that is too tight cracks the handle during firing or grips the spoon so hard that the glaze chips at the entry; too loose and the spoon leans out and drops. The opening on this body is formed in the mould rather than drilled afterwards, so the wall thickness around it stays even and the handle keeps its strength.

Body and spoon are formed separately, joined only at packing. Both are glazed and fired to the same schedule so the colour matches across the pair — a spoon fired in a different load can come out a shade away from the mug, which is visible the moment they sit together. The slot is checked at inspection by inserting a production spoon, because a slot that passes a gauge can still bind on the real thing.

Key Features

Spoon holds itself upright

The slot takes the spoon stem, leaving the bowl above the rim. No spoon resting in the drink, no wet handle, and the set stays together on a shelf.

Slot formed in the mould

The opening is shaped during forming, not cut afterwards. Wall thickness around the slot stays even, which is where drilled versions crack in the kiln.

Colour-matched set

Exterior and interior can be specified separately, and the spoon is glazed to match the interior. White outside with a coloured inside is the most common combination for gift ranges.

Everyday hotel and office use

The set suits breakfast service, office kitchens, corporate gifts and retail packs where a mug and spoon are sold together as one item.
